IK Multimedia just rolled out TONEX preset sharing through ToneNET, and it changes how you discover and use tones in TONEX. Version 1.11.0 landed today (April 2, 2026) as a free update for every TONEX user, including the free TONEX CS tier. Until now, ToneNET let you browse and download individual Tone Models. Now you can grab entire signal chains, complete with effects and routing, ready to load and play.

What TONEX preset sharing actually does

If you've used ToneNET before, you know it as a place to find Tone Models, the AI-captured snapshots of real amps, cabs, and pedals that power the whole TONEX ecosystem. That part hasn't changed. What's new is that users can now upload and download full presets: a Tone Model combined with effects and routing into a finished, playable sound.

The interface got a visual refresh too. Signal chain modules now look like physical pedals on a board, which makes it easier to see what's going on at a glance. You can browse presets by song, artist, genre, or playing style, and the community is already adding new ones daily. Hundreds of presets are available at launch.

Why this matters if you use TONEX

The biggest practical benefit is trying before buying. Some presets on ToneNET use Premium Tone Models that you don't own yet. With preset sharing, you can load the full signal chain, hear the Premium model in context with effects around it, and decide if it's worth purchasing. That's a smarter way to shop than scrolling through isolated amp captures.

For players who don't want to build chains from scratch, this is the faster path to usable tones. Browse what other people have put together, download what sounds good, tweak from there. If you've ever spent an hour assembling a preset only to realize you don't like the foundation tone, you'll appreciate starting from someone else's finished work.

The feature works across the entire TONEX lineup. Software, mobile app, TONEX Pedal, TONEX ONE, TONEX Plug. You can transfer presets directly from ToneNET to your hardware, which means gigging players can grab community presets and load them onto a pedalboard without a laptop at the gig. Just sync beforehand through the TONEX Editor app or the main TONEX software.

How to get TONEX preset sharing

Update to version 1.11.0 through IK Product Manager. The update is free for all tiers. Once updated, open TONEX, head to the ToneNET section, and you'll see the new Presets tab alongside the existing Tone Models browser. You can also browse presets directly at tone.net/tonex from your browser, though downloading requires the updated software.

A smart move from IK Multimedia

This is actually a really interesting move from IK Multimedia, and one that says a lot about where the whole modeling space is heading.

With Helix, you’re usually downloading presets from CustomTone or other external sources, importing files, organizing them manually. It works, but it feels a bit disconnected from the actual playing experience. Quad Cortex takes a step further with Cortex Cloud, which is definitely more integrated, but it still has its limitations, especially when it comes to flexibility and how presets circulate within the community.

You spend less time assembling tones from scratch and more time actually playing or making decisions. And when you factor in Premium Tone Models, it becomes even more useful, because you can hear them in a real musical context before committing to anything.

So no, preset sharing itself isn’t new. But the way TONEX integrates it into the whole ecosystem makes it feel much more complete.
