Helix Stadium Native: Price, Free Version, and What Actually Changed

Helix Stadium Native is out. It is the plugin version of the Line 6 Helix Stadium hardware, so the amps, cabs and effects that live inside the Stadium XL and the Stadium Floor now run inside your DAW. The part most people will care about first: there is a free tier called Intro, it has no time limit, and it loads third-party impulse responses. You do not need to own any Line 6 hardware to install it. Here is what is in the box, what the paid version costs, and where the free one runs out of road.

What Line 6 Helix Stadium Native actually is
Helix Stadium Native is a plugin. It runs in your DAW as VST3, AU or AAX on macOS, and as VST3 or AAX on Windows. Inside it you get the Agoura amp models that Line 6 built for the Stadium generation, the older HX amp channels carried over from the previous Helix line, the cab collection, and the effects. The full license breaks down as 27 Agoura amps covering 55 channels, another 111 HX amp channels, 46 cabs and 274 effects.
It also loads two things the old plugin never could. Cab IRs work the way you would expect, including third-party libraries you already own. Proxy clones also load, which are captures of a real amp made on Stadium hardware, similar in spirit to what a Kemper profile or a Neural DSP capture does. If you have been following the Proxy rollout on the hardware side, this is the same system, now in a plugin window.
Line 6 documented the whole release in the official Helix Stadium Native FAQ, which is where most of the numbers in this post come from. It is worth reading before you buy anything, because the upgrade pricing has more branches than usual.
The free Intro license is the real headline
Helix Stadium Native Intro costs nothing and never expires. You make a Line 6 account, download the plugin, and it stays working.
What you get: five amp models in total, four of them guitar amps plus the Ampeg SVT-50th Anniversary bass head. The guitar side is a sensible starter spread. There is a US Luxe Black based on a Fender Deluxe, an Essex TB30CC based on a Vox AC-30, a Brit 2203MV based on a Marshall JCM-800, and a Revv 120 Red based on the Generator 120. Five cabs come with them, four matched to the guitar amps and the Ampeg 810 for bass. On top of that you get 15 effects spread across distortion, delay, reverb, modulation and dynamics, along with the 7-band parametric EQ and the tuner.
The important bit is that cab IR loading is not paywalled. So if you have a folder of IRs you like, the free plugin will happily run them, and that alone makes it usable for real recording. Same story with free presets: you can build a working chain without spending anything.
Where it stops: 15 effects is thin once you start layering. Proxy clone loading works, but the number you can put in a single preset is capped well below the full license. And you are locked out of most of the Agoura amp roster, which is the thing Line 6 spent the most engineering on. Intro is a genuinely useful free plugin and a very effective sales funnel at the same time.

What changed compared to the old Helix Native
If you already run Helix Native, the short answer is that this is a bigger, more modern engine sitting in the same job.
The block count went from 32 to 48 locations, so complex parallel rigs stop running out of room. Sample rate support now goes up to 192 kHz, where the old plugin topped out at 96 kHz. Every cab block is dual, and the cabs run at twice the base resolution. You can have more than one split and merge per path. Dynamics blocks and select filter blocks accept a sidechain, which is how you finally get proper ducking delays and envelope filters keyed off a different signal. Focus view gives you five distinct sounds per amp with contextual controls, and mic placement is now graphic rather than a list of numbers. Preset management got nested folders and a search field, which sounds boring until you have 400 presets.
One thing to be clear about: Stadium Native does not take over your old sessions. It installs as a separate plugin, so existing projects keep their Helix Native instances exactly as they were. That is the right call for archive safety. It also means you will have two Line 6 plugins in your list for a long time. Line 6 is keeping the old Helix Native alive, but in a narrow form: the $99.99 version for registered Helix Floor, Rack, LT, HX Effects and HX Stomp owners stays available and keeps getting updates so preset compatibility holds. The other Helix Native purchase tiers are being replaced by Stadium Native.
What Helix Stadium Native costs
The full license is $399.99 if you are coming in cold with no Line 6 history. That is a lot of money for a plugin, and it is the number most people will react to.
Almost nobody pays it. If you have a Helix Stadium XL or Stadium Floor registered to your account, the plugin is $99.99. If you own Helix Native, the upgrade is also $99.99. POD Farm Platinum owners pay $199.99, and plain POD Farm owners pay $299.99. There is a 15-day trial of the full version if you want to test the whole roster before deciding, and anyone who registered Helix Native on or after June 4, 2026 gets the full Stadium Native license for free under a 60-day grace period.
The license lives on your Line 6 account and covers up to four computers, which is generous compared to a lot of plugin licensing.

Presets built in Stadium Native load into Helix Stadium XL and Helix Stadium Floor. Presets coming the other way work too, and so do presets from the old Helix Native and from Helix and HX hardware, including full setlists imported from Helix Floor, Rack, LT and Native. So your existing library is not stranded.
The one-way street is the old plugin. A preset made in Stadium Native will not open in the original Helix Native. If you collaborate with someone still on the old plugin, that matters.
There is also Hardware Compatibility Mode. Leave it on and the plugin respects the 48-block limit of the Stadium hardware, so anything you build will transfer. Turn it off, which full and trial license holders can do, and you can go past 48 blocks for studio work that never needs to leave the computer. Useful, and easy to forget you switched it, so be careful before a gig.

Install Intro. It is free, it never expires, it takes ten minutes, and it loads your IRs. Even if you never spend a cent, you end up with a serious amp plugin sitting in your DAW.
If you own Stadium hardware, the $99.99 upgrade is the obvious move, because it turns your studio session into a preset you can walk on stage with. If you own Helix Native and you are happy, there is no emergency here, but the same $99.99 gets you 48 blocks, sidechaining and 192 kHz support.
