The JUPITER-08 celebrates the 45th anniversary of the legendary JUPITER-8, while n/vision introduces a new wavetable synthesis platform designed for complex modulation and evolving electronic textures.

Both instruments feature compact designs, built-in speakers, battery and USB-C power options, USB audio/MIDI connectivity, and an included K-25m keyboard dock.

Roland JUPITER-08 – A Modern Tribute to the JUPITER-8

Originally introduced in 1981, the Roland JUPITER-8 became one of the most recognizable analog polysynths, appearing across synth-pop, electronic music, film soundtracks, and countless productions.

The new JUPITER-08 brings the character and hands-on interface of the original instrument into the compact Roland Boutique format, with several improvements for modern production.

By default, the synthesizer operates with the original JUPITER-8's eight-voice, two-part architecture. However, users can expand its internal polyphony to 32 voices, allowing for more complex chords and layered sounds.

Key Features of the JUPITER-08

  • Classic JUPITER-8-inspired sound engine and interface

  • Eight-voice, two-part architecture with expandable 32-voice polyphony

  • Two-part, 64-step polyphonic sequencer

  • Built-in arpeggiator

  • 17 effects, including chorus and MFX

  • Dedicated delay and reverb with five types and shimmer mode

  • Refined voice allocation and pitch behavior

  • Compact design with included K-25m keyboard

With expanded polyphony, integrated sequencing, and onboard effects, the JUPITER-08 offers a modern way to explore the classic sounds associated with Roland's flagship analog synthesizer.

Roland n/vision – A New Wavetable Synthesizer

Alongside the JUPITER-08, Roland has introduced n/vision, a newly developed Boutique instrument built around wavetable synthesis.

Unlike the vintage-inspired JUPITER-08, n/vision focuses on modern sound design, offering two wavetable layers, extensive modulation options, and advanced waveform processing.

Users can blend and manipulate the two layers to create evolving pads, aggressive leads, animated textures, and complex electronic sounds.

One of its main features is Roland's wave-shaper technology, which uses nonlinear processing to generate additional harmonics and transform waveforms beyond traditional wavetable synthesis.

Key Features of n/vision

  • Two wavetable layers with independent sound-shaping possibilities

  • Modulation of wavetable position, layer balance, pitch, and shaping parameters

  • Nonlinear wave-shaper technology for harmonic generation

  • Step LFO and envelope modulation

  • Oscillator modulation and motion recording

  • Drive-enhanced analog-modeling filter

  • Multiple filter models inspired by classic synthesizers

  • 17 effects, dedicated delay, and five reverb types with shimmer

  • Hands-on controls with deeper menu-based sound design options

The combination of wavetable synthesis, wave shaping, motion recording, and multiple modulation sources makes n/vision particularly interesting for producers working with electronic, ambient, experimental, and cinematic sounds.

Two Different Approaches to Sound Design

Although both instruments share the Roland Boutique format, their synthesis capabilities target different creative needs.

The JUPITER-08 focuses on vintage-inspired polyphonic sounds, traditional synthesis workflows, and the recognizable character of the JUPITER-8.

In contrast, n/vision provides a more experimental sound design environment, combining wavetable manipulation, nonlinear waveform processing, and extensive modulation.

Both models also offer modern production features, including USB audio/MIDI connectivity, onboard effects, sequencing capabilities on the JUPITER-08, and portable operation.

Availability and More Information

The JUPITER-08 and n/vision expand the current Roland Boutique lineup to eight models.

Both instruments include the K-25m keyboard dock and support battery or USB-C power, making them suitable for standalone use, studio production, and live performance.

Roland has not provided pricing or specific retail availability dates in its initial press announcement.
