IK Multimedia has announced TONEX Parametric Tone Models, an expanded capture format that recreates how amplifier and pedal controls respond. A single model can include six adjustable knobs and supported switches, rather than representing gear at one fixed setting. The free technology arrives first for TONEX software and TONEX Board in November 2026.

What TONEX Parametric Tone Models actually capture

TONEX Parametric Tone Models capture the behavior of selected controls instead of preserving only one combination of settings. Creators can capture up to six knobs, including gain, master volume, tone-stack controls, presence and depth. Bright, mid-boost and other switches can also become adjustable parameters inside the finished model.
Each knob supports up to 10 captured positions, with the neural network predicting the response between those points and across combined settings. The original session settings remain the model’s default, while the usual TONEX gain and EQ controls stay available. This should let players adjust drive and tonal balance closer to the way the source amplifier or pedal responds.
IK Multimedia introduces Parametric Tone Model technology and demonstrates how captured controls change the modeled gear.
The 11 free models cover amps and one pedal

The launch collection contains 10 amplifier models and one pedal model, available free to TONEX Player and TONEX Board users. IK Multimedia contributed captures based on a Fender ’65 Deluxe Reverb, Marshall JCM900 Channel B and MXR Distortion+. These names identify the equipment studied and do not indicate an endorsement by the original manufacturers.
Tone Partners supplied the other models, based on equipment including the Friedman BE-100, VOX AC30, Soldano SLO-100 and Matchless Chieftain. Each partner selected the cabinet, microphones and recording chain, so models based on different rigs can retain distinct production choices. Players will also be able to organize and exchange conventional captures through TONEX preset sharing on ToneNET.
