Here’s what each synth offers and why it might belong in your setup.
Diva
Diva is u-he’s flagship virtual analog synthesizer, and it’s built to deliver authentic analog character without compromise. Using component level modelling and zero delay feedback (ZDF) filter design, Diva captures the sound and behavior of classic hardware with impressive accuracy. You get five oscillator models, five filter types, and three envelope models, all based on iconic synths from the past five decades. The interface lets you mix and match modules to create your own hybrid instruments, so you’re not locked into recreating one specific piece of gear. It’s CPU intensive, sure, but the sound quality is worth it. Hive
Hive (specifically Hive 2) takes a different approach: streamlined workflow, low CPU usage, and a clear interface that gets you to good sounds fast. Version 2 packs in wavetable support alongside traditional waveforms, with up to 16 voice unison per oscillator, and a unique 8 step shape sequencer. The modulation matrix gives you 12 x 2 slots with modifiers for curvature, rectification, quantisation, sample & hold and slew rate. There are four XY control pads for live performance. The plugin ships with over 2 400 (2400+) NKS ready presets. For producers who need versatility without complexity, Hive 2 delivers. Available here.
Repro
Repro gives you two classic synthesizers in one package: Repro-1 and Repro-5. Repro-1 is a monophonic synth modelled on a legendary early 80s design; Repro-5 adds polyphony, expanding the architecture into a fully polyphonic instrument. Both use component level modelling to capture the analog character of the originals. The “Tweaks” panel lets you adjust fundamental module behaviours, giving you deep control over the synth’s core DNA. If you’re after authentic vintage analog sound with modern flexibility, Repro nails it. Available here.
Bazille
Bazille is where things get deep. This large polyphonic modular system combines digital oscillators with analog style filters and a level of flexibility that only true modular patching can provide. Four digital oscillators based on phase distortion and FM synthesis give you bold, cutting sounds, while four self oscillating multimode filters shape your tone with precision. The modulation options are extensive: four ADSR envelopes, two LFOs, a 16 step morphing sequencer, and two mapping generators with comprehensive drawing tools. Bazille isn’t for everyone, it’s a geek machine that rewards experimentation and patience. But if you’re into sound design and want a synth that never runs out of creative potential, Bazille is hard to beat. Available here.
ACE
ACE rounds out the lineup as u-he’s semi modular gateway synth. It’s compact, clear, and easier to learn than a full modular system, but still powerful enough for serious sound design. The “Any Cable Everywhere” philosophy means you can connect any output to any input, opening up creative routing possibilities without overwhelming you with options. Oscillators include PWM, sync, internal ring/cross modulation; two multimode filters; and flexible modulation sources. The UI ships with over 920 factory presets and supports MPE. Available here.
