How does the Mellotron sound work?
M-Tron Select 2 recreates the basic idea behind a real Mellotron in software. The original instrument plays a separate tape recording for every key, with about eight seconds of sound stored on each strip. Those recordings could contain instruments such as flutes and strings or the sound of a choir. This tape playback method gives the Mellotron its recognizable character, which is quite different from a clean modern sample library.
